Job Description

The last few years, hi-rise has been the goto work in Manchester City Centre and yes, the team involved in this 250-unit project would love to speak to you if you’ve also been involved at Project or Block Manager level in some of the multi-storey developments that have sprung up in town.

However, we’re hoping that the set-up of this independently owned business will offer you some slightly different opportunities than the usual hi-rise monsters. That’ll be the longevity of work on this landmark 50 million pound development and potentially a second phase, too. Different types of residential builds moving forward so you can expand your skillset and keep your head fresh. Sites that stay within Greater Manchester allowing you to stay in the same business (after all, they’ve been trading for over 50 years).

But talking about now, where are you gonna fit in as a Project Manager on this site which rises up to 12 storeys and covers four different blocks?

Well, if you’re a stickler for production, H&S and compliance then this is going to be your bag. The programme has been forensically set by the Project Director, tight deadlines mean strict schedules and if you’re all about the rigour and push (with ample support), you’ll fit in great here. You, along with another PM, will be looking after 2 blocks each and you’ll be fully responsible for the structures (SFS and metsec frame around an RC base), facades (brick curtain walling), roofing and fitout - you'll need experience of all these methods.

Your Façade Manager and Fit Out Managers (x 4) will assist to run those elements, too, and you'll be ably supported on site by various other members of staff, a Logistics Manager, a Design Manager, various Commercial staff, the complete support. The site based Project Director is the guy running the show, though, and he talks about a ‘production line mentality’ - he’s highly organised and wants you to be, too, so if your mind and skillset works best pushing sequencing and programme, we think you’ll be a success.

What you’ll get back to help with the programme are a set of subbies who’ll be bought and incentivised into the progress, a substantial site management team handpicked by the Project Director and a set of senior management with multiple years’ experience on hi-rise residential who’ll support you in this high-reward role.  It’s going to be one of the landmark developments the company has been involved in, rising at over 50 million in cost, and not only a feather in the cap of any Project Manager but also in the business, too.  They’ll also be offering you a very competitive salary plus allowance and mileage as standard and several other elements included in the package.
