A London Local Authority is seeking a skilled and proactive Housing Compliance Enforcement Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact on housing standards and tenant safety across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and investigations under the Council’s Property Licensing Schemes.
- Carry out Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments.
- Enforce compliance across Mandatory HMO, Additional HMO, Section 257 HMO, and Selective Licensing schemes.
- Prepare and serve statutory notices, and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with landlords, tenants, and other agencies to improve housing conditions and safety.
- Maintain accurate records and produce detailed reports and evidence for legal proceedings where required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in property licensing compliance and enforcement within a local authority or similar setting.
- In-depth knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, HHSRS, and all aspects of HMO legislation.
- Ability to interpret housing legislation and apply it effectively in a practical enforcement environment.
- Strong communication, investigation, and report-writing skills.
- Relevant professional qualification and HHSRS certification desirable.
