Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Chesterfield, S41 area
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Full-Time, long-term
Pay: £80 - £100 per day, dependant on experience

Smile Education are currently partnering with a Chesterfield based Alternative Provision who are currently expanding and consequently looking for several Teaching Assistants.

The school caters for students up to Key Stage 4 who have faced permanent exclusion from mainstream school. The school is committed to fostering positive behavioural change, nurturing a drive for success, and facilitating students’ transition back into mainstream education.

About this Teaching Assistant role: As a teaching assistant, you will be playing a key role in giving these students a second chance, managing behaviour, and helping them to integrate back into mainstream school. Your role will involve working closely with the classroom teacher, parents, and outside agencies to provide the best possible support to the students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the teacher within the classroom
  • Managing classroom behaviour
  • Working 1-to-1 and in small groups to deliver interventions to students who need additional support.
  • Contribute to the preparation of learning resources.
  • Supporting the overall wellbeing of students
  • Helping to create an inclusive, warm, and supportive learning environment.
Applicant Requirements – What are we looking for?
  • Previous experience supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Confident dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Proactive mindset, ready to take initiative and actively participate.
