Smile Education is a leading recruitment service for schools in the West Midlands. A leading educational setting within South Birmingham is currently looking for an SEN Teacher to start immediately on a long-term basis, working within a Secondary class. sm1let


About the Role:

  • Teaching and supporting students aged 11-16yrs in KS3 and KS4 with severe and profound learning difficulties
  • You will be responsible for planning, marking, and delivering lessons
  • You will be providing activities that cater to needs of the child
  • You will work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants and other staff to ensure the child is receiving the correct level of support
  • You will be using the National Curriculum to deliver tailored educational programmes to suit the young people in your class
  • You will be working with vulnerable children with Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties and challenging behaviour

  • The school provides sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pools and a medical suite for all children
  • This Birmingham school caters for KS3, KS4 and KS5 children between the ages of 11-19 years old

About You:

  • You have 12 months experience working with SEN children or working in SEN schools
  • You will have a UK QTS or equivalent
  • You are a patient individual who has a good understanding of the service and complex needs of students
  • Have had experience working within a mainstream school and looking to move into a SEN school would be considered
  • Good understanding of the secondary curriculum
