Step Teachers are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Maternity Cover Teacher of Design and Technology. This temporary position offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of secondary students while honing your skills and expertise in Design and Technology.

Role Overview:

As a Teacher of Design and Technology, you will play a pivotal role in inspiring and guiding students to explore the exciting world of design and innovation. You will deliver engaging lessons that foster creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Design and Technology, catering to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methodologies to enhance understanding and engagement, including hands-on practical activities, project-based learning, and digital technologies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity and develop their design skills.
  • Assess student progress through regular feedback, assessments, and evaluations, providing guidance for improvement and celebrating achievements.
  • As a Design and Technology teacher, you will collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative curriculum materials, projects, and initiatives that promote the importance of Design and Technology education.
  • Stay updated on advancements in design, engineering, and technology education, integrating new ideas and techniques into your teaching practice.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level.
  • Passion for inspiring creativity and innovation in students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Proficiency in utilising a range of design software and tools.
