Job Description

Our client, a reputable engineering consultancy is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their office in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. The Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality structural designs across a range of materials including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber. You will work on a variety of projects large and small across most sectors including commercial, R&D, and residential ensuring the team undertakes detailed design to the required standards, while delivering projects on time and profitably.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Preparing structural calculations, specifications, reports, and general correspondence.
  • Briefing and supervising CAD Technicians.
  • Liaising and communicating with external professionals and clients.
  • Conducting site inspections/surveys.
  • Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring the project complies with statutory requirements, especially health and safety.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 2-4 years post graduate design experience in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • An ability to take a global view of structural design on a project, identifying potential problems and solutions and providing advice to clients on design options.
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and familiarity with the Site Investigation process, with particular reference to foundation design.
  • A good working knowledge of the following: TEDDS, CSC Structural Office, RCC Spread Sheets, AutoCAD and Tekla/Scia finite element design software.
