Assistant Accountant

£35,000 + 10% Bonus

Paignton

As a Assistant Accountant you will be reporting to the Head of Finance in a business that has plans to grow the Finance Team.

Requirement of this vacancy include the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure all finance transactional activities are processed by group Finance Shared Service Centre.
  • Support the Head of Finance with preparation of the monthly management accounts and group reporting.
  • Manage accruals and prepayments.
  • Weekly Cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and managing the Deferred VAT account as well as any other queries with HMRC.
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations monthly, including a thorough review of the GRNI, down payments and key account for specific suppliers as well as payroll/pension accounts.
  • Provide support on all audit requests, collating and retrieving as re-quired.
  • Supervise daily reconciliation of bank accounts and allocations to customer accounts and being main point of contact locally for finance related queries.
  • Supervise the preparation of the weekly/monthly BACS run in line with cash flow.
  • Make payments as required using the banking portal.
  • Supervise all credit control processes including allocating cash to customer accounts and chasing debt as required.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by the business.
  • Process monthly payroll and all associated activities including pension etc.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar vacancy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong team player
  • QBE or ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT qualified or part-qualified OR 2 plus years’ experience in a similar role
  • The ability to analyse and solve problems
  • MS Office including excel pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Sum ifs
  • Excellent Attention to detail
  • Experience working with ERP Finance packages   

Hours of Work

8:00 – 5:00 Monday – Friday
