Facilities Assistant
Location: East London
Rate: £20.85 per hour umbrella


Role Purpose: As a Facilities Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the workspace and buildings within the Council's corporate property portfolio across various facilities including Libraries, Idea Stores, Administration buildings, Youth Centres, Community buildings, Children’s Centres, Adults Centres, and parks buildings. This position may involve working at a busy reception interfacing with a diverse range of service providers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality facilities management services ensuring buildings are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain value for money while prioritising excellent customer service in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Provide basic reports and proactively identify and report building issues, suggesting improvements where necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships with building users, addressing their service requirements promptly and effectively.
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely manner, keeping users informed throughout the process.
  • Respond to requests from the Facilities Management Helpdesk, ensuring timely and pragmatic resolution.
  • Take responsibility for statutory compliance, maintaining accurate records and updating the Council’s Asset Management system as required.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Demonstrable experience in a Facilities and/or Customer service environment, with a track record of contributing to the delivery of excellent services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and services.
  • Proficient IT skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Desirable: Health and Safety qualification.
