Job Description

Our client is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join their expanding department in Glasgow. You will be expected to lead projects, whilst supervising the work of Engineers and Technicians and work closely with the Department’s Director and Associate. The suitable candidate will have an established and proven expertise in their field and will be expected to manage client portfolios from a quality, programme, and financial perspective to ensure that the Client’s expectations are met and develop client relationships and seek out new opportunities.


Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Preparing structural calculations, specifications, reports, and general correspondence.
  • Briefing and supervising CAD Technicians.
  • Liaising & communicating with external professionals and clients.
  • Undertaking analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Fastrak Building Designer.
  • Site inspections and preparing high quality technical reports including structural surveys.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Relevant experience and degree in an appropriate ‘built environment’ discipline.
  • Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE) and SER Certified.
  • Ability to design in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and familiarity with the Site Investigation process, with particular reference to foundation design.
  • A good working knowledge of TEDDS, CSC Structural Office, RCC Spread Sheets, AutoCAD and Tekla/Scia finite element design software.
