Job Description

We are currently working with a multi-award-winning engineering design consultancy seeking to recruit an experienced Principal Highways Engineer at Associate status to work in their Design Infrastructure team. With the role being based in Manchester, the Principal Highways Engineer will take lead on major projects across the UK by providing technical guidance and support to project teams while implementing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. You will develop and maintain effective communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle as well as identify opportunities for growth and expansion.


Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage highway and transportation infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage and supervise other engineers.
  • Oversee maintenance of highways, bridges and other infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare project proposals and reports, maintaining effective communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections, preparing follow up reports.
 

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Ideally you will be nearing chartered engineer status (CENG, MICE).
  • Vastly experienced in highway and transportation engineering, with experience leading and managing projects and teams.
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D.
  • Solid commercial acumen with effective influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong client relationships.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations, with a focus on ensuring safe and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
  • A ‘self-starter’ with drive, positivity and enthusiasm and a strong desire to succeed.
